The Central R & D Institute is the main body of LT to implement the scientific and technical projects and the core of LT to carry out the technological research and development. On one hand, the Central R & D Institute is engaged in independent research, development and innovation in order to provide core technology supports for the sustainable development of CEI, on the other hand, the Central R & D Institute undertakes the government research projects, with the mission of providing the technical support to the industrial & social development and to the government decisions.

Under the Central R & D Institute there are 4 professional research institutes specialized in Green Technologies, Energy Saving Technologies, Intelligent Technologies and New Material Technologies. Based on the co-operation combining industrialization, academic study and research, making use of various social resources, taking advantage of international co-operation, the Central R & D Institute has been more and more improved and internationalized. The Central R & D Institute has developed a wide co-operation and communication with international and national universities, scientific research organizations and well-known enterprises via co-operated projects.
